Sunderland's Brown has red card rescinded

The Football Association has rescinded the red card shown to Sunderland defender Wes Brown during his team's 2-0 loss to Manchester United on Saturday.

Referee Roger Earl mistakenly sent Brown off for denying Radamel Falcao a goal-scoring chance as television replays showed John O'Shea had committed the foul.

Sunderland appealed and an independent regulatory commission today upheld their claim of wrongful dismissal with Brown's one-game suspension being immediately withdrawn, the FA said in a statement.

Brown's red card will not be transferred to O'Shea and both players will be available for Tuesday's game at Hull.
