Striker falls into hole celebrating goal

A Cameroonian footballer playing in Brazil was given the fright of his life after falling into a deep pit during a post-goal celebration.

Footage of the match shows Coritiba striker Joel round the keeper and score a brilliant goal against Sau Paulo.

In typical fashion, he wheels away towards the sideline and goes to jump over the advertising hoarding to celebrate with fans.

A security guard can be seen trying to stop Joel from leaping over the board but it’s too late as the striker goes tumbling over and into a construction pit that was covered with a green sheet.

Security and two teammates help Joel up before the sheepish striker continues with a rather more subdued celebration.

The untimely fall was the only blight on an otherwise successful night for the Cameroonian, who scored twice in Coritiba’s 3-1 win.
