A Portuguese football team has paid the highest of prices for over-celebrating.

Sporting Lisbon's B-team thought they had opened the scoring against their counterparts from Braga, with the goal-scorer Pedro Delgado sprinting off to the corner to celebrate in customary fashion. 

All was not as it seemed though, with match footage showing that the officials decided, after a lengthy delay, to disallow the goal for offside.

As the Sporting players quickly wrapped up their celebrations, the quick-thinking Braga goalkeeper quickly took the free kick to start a lightning-fast counter-attack.
