A frisky football referee is in trouble after allegedly asking a female player out on a date while he was in the middle of officiating her game.
Santiago Quijada Alcon was accused of trying to chat up Sporting de Huelva's Elena Pavel during their Sapnish division one match against rivals Santa Teresa.
The New York Daily News reported Alcon had allegedly come up to the Romanian and said: "Hey brown-hair, let's get coffee this afternoon."
In response the Romanian told the referee he "better stick to blowing your whistle."
Sporting de Huelva lost the match 3-2 and had two players sent off after Pavel rejected Alcon's alleged advances.
After the game she spoke of her disappointment in the actions of the referee: "I've stopped believing in football, in fair play," she said.
"I feel helpless, humiliated. In the many years I've been playing football I've never felt so ashamed.
The referee has denied the allegations and the local referee's association announced it could pursue action against the Pavel because of her accusation.
