Socceroos trounce Nepal 3-0 in World Cup qualifier to score seven straight wins

The Socceroos trounced Nepal 3-0 in Kuwait City in their latest World Cup qualifier which was their seventh successive win.

The Australians sealed top spot in Group B with their latest win which took them to 21 points from seven Group B matches but had already secured progression to the next stage of the Asian Football Confederation qualifiers for next year's World Cup.

Captain Mat Leckie, right back Fran Karacic and Martin Boyle all scored in the match with the Socceroos taking advantage of a brave Nepal side that had been reduced to 10 men on the stroke half-time when Rohit Chand was sent off.

Nepal goalkeeper Kiran Chemjong saved his side from going down in a big score making several saves.

Socceroos coach Graham Arnold made nine changes to the side that beat Chinese Taipei 5-1 in his bid to rotate the team and give everyone some time on the field.

The Socceroos needed just six minutes to take the lead with Leckie heading home a nice cross from left back Aziz Behich.

Leckie turned provider in the 38th minute when he found Karacic to score his first international goal. Nepal's task became even tougher at halftime when they were reduced to 10 men with the dismissal of Chand.

The 29-year-old defender was a shown a straight red card for a last-man foul on Boyle.

In the 57th minute Boyle netted from close range after being found at the far post with a perfectly timed pass from his Hibernian teammate Jackson Irvine.

Arnold's men conclude their Group B campaign on Wednesday morning against Jordan.
