STAT THAT MATTERS - 50 - the number of kilometres Western Sydney had to travel to claim their first home win of the season, beating Newcastle 2-0 at Campbelltown Stadium.

MAN OF THE ROUND - He didn't score but Diego Castro was instrumental in Perth's come-from-behind 2-1 win over high-flying Melbourne Victory. The Spaniard was best on the park at nib Stadium and a dominant and creative presence throughout.

SAFEST HANDS - In-form Glory gloveman Liam Reddy was again heroic against Victory, saving the first of Besart Berisha's spot-kicks before the Victory striker converted his second chance.

CONTROVERSY CORNER - Central Coast coach Paul Okon slammed as "madness" the red card shown to striker Roy O'Donovan over his aerial clash with Melbourne City defender Michael Jakobsen in Thursday's 2-1 loss. Okon particularly took issue with the way the assistant referee appeared to convince referee Daniel Elder to wield a red instead of yellow after a furious reaction from Jakobsen and goalkeeper Dean Bouzanis. Given that, it seemed inexplicable that Sydney FC defender Rhyan Grant was only shown yellow on Friday for a sliding, studs-up tackle that caught Marcelo Carrusca on the shin.

UNDER PRESSURE - The Jets' loss to the Wanderers relegated Mark Jones' side to eighth, and it won't get any easier to secure a finals berth in their next three fixtures against Melbourne City (home), Perth (away) and Melbourne Victory (home).
