Sky Blues too good for Glory in W-League

Lisa De Vanna has outmatched fellow Matildas superstar Sam Kerr on Sunday evening as Sydney FC won 2-0 at Perth Glory to leave their W-League semi-finals ambitions on the brink.

The Perth-raised De Vanna scored one and set up another as the Sky Blues claimed all three points in the west against an unlucky Glory.

Glory forward Kerr, in combination with American attacker Rachel Hill, created numerous openings in front of goal at Dorrien Gardens only to find visiting goalkeeper Aubrey Bledsoe in inspired form.

The hosts were unable to find a way to goal even after Sydney were forced to play the final 18 minutes without midfielder Kylie Ledbrook, who was dismissed for a second caution.

De Vanna opened the scoring on 20 minutes after Ledbrook had earlier clipped the crossbar with a long-range effort.

Australia co-captain De Vanna then turned provider by setting up Chloe Logarzo for an easy finish, in her first match back from a month-long injury absence.

The result extended Sydney's unbeaten run to seven matches and lifted them to second, just two points shy of leaders Brisbane Roar.

Perth, beaten grand finalists last season, remained three points adrift of the fourth and final play-off berth with just two matches to play.
