Schweinsteiger targets Euro 16

Injured captain Bastian Schweinsteiger is continuing his fitness fight to be available for Germany at the upcoming Euro 2016 in France following a knee injury.

"I'm doing well," Schweinsteiger told a news conference at Germany's training camp in Ascona, Switzerland, on Wednesday. "I can complete the tasks from the medical department. It's looking good."

The 31-year-old Manchester United midfielder has suffered with various injuries throughout last season and has not played since hurting his knee on international duty in March.

But despite this he is eager to make the cut when coach Joachim Loew names his final 23-man squad for the Euros on May 31.

Schweinsteiger completed a gym session on Wednesday and others, including Sami Khedira and Thomas Mueller, trained individually.
