Schalke's Hoewedes makes return

Schalke captain Benedikt Hoewedes returned to team training Tuesday following a thigh muscle fibre tear which had kept him sidelined since mid-January.

The defender ruled out a return to Bundesliga action on Saturday against Bayer Leverkusen, but said he should be fit to make Germany's Euro 2016 squad.

"I hope the national team play a good European Championship and that I can play my part," he said.
