'Rony' and Barker bamboozle AS Roma
Australian football fans got a sumptuous taste of Manchester City brilliance during a stunning passage of play from Sky Blues' pair Marcos 'Rony' Lopes and Brandon Barker during their ICC clash with AS Roma at the MCG.
Leading 2-1 in the 56th minute, the City teammates had the Channel Nine commentary team gushing with praise when they worked together to set up an opportunity for Jesus Navas.
Taking the ball just over halfway, Barker moved down field and passed to 'Rony', who showcased his superb touch with a step-over and backheel pass back to the young winger to bamboozle the Roma defence.
Not to be outdone, Barker then channeled the great Diego Maradonna to produce a wonderful spinning turn to outmanoeuvre his marker and send a pass to Navas.
But unfortunately, Navas was unable to do justice to the skill of his teammates, sending his shot flying over the crossbar.
The play came amidst an absorbing clash that had the 43,134-strong MCG crowd pulsating and showed why fans have rushed to snap up tickets to watch the world's best footballers on Australian soil.
