Ronaldo stars in cringe-worthy Home Alone Christmas commercial

In case you needed another reason to hate Cristiano Ronaldo, he’s made himself the egocentric star of a new ‘Home Alone’-themed Christmas commercial for Portuguese Telecomm MEO.

In the ad, the Real Madrid star, who recently signed a record deal with Nike, hijacks the role of Kevin McCallister made famous by Macauley Culkin in Home Alone. The two-time Ballon D'or winner's family accidentally leaving him behind on Christmas eve eager to start their vacation.

The instant his fake-tanned mug eventually enters the frame the cringing begins.

It’s all here; from murdering Culkin’s endearingly famous shaving scene with his annoying attempt to sing Christmas carols while flexing for the camera with his shirt off, to giving a honking fake laugh when he scares off the pizza man a la McCallister.

Like clockwork, his adoring family and friends realise they’ve forgotten their Ronaldo (odd considering his actual mother stars in the ad but still calls him Ronaldo?) and race back to shower the deprived star with presents, love and adulation.

There is one saving grace however, MEO is the main sponsor for Porto FC, the arch rival of his beloved boyhood club, Sporting Lisbon.
