Rogic scores with Zidane-esque volley
Welcome the new heir apparent to Zinedine Zidane … or so Australian fans are hoping.
Socceroo and Celtic attacker Tom Rogic took a leaf out of the former French superstar's playbook and scored a cracking volley in the Scottish Premier League.
Former World Player of the Year Zidane scored a contender for goal of the century when he majestically volleyed into the top corner during the Champions League final in 2002.
And the 22-year-old Rogic did his best to emulate the famous strike when he opened the scoring in Celtic's 6-0 demolition of Dundee.
Unmarked and standing on the penalty spot, Rogic dispatched a floating cross with a crisp side-foot volley low and to the right of the diving goalkeeper.
Rogic, who has now scored three goals in the league this season, then laid on the assist for Leigh Griffith to score the side's second.
A double to Emilio Izaguirre and strikes to Scott Brown and Nadir Ciftci rounded out the lopsided affair.
