Roar's depth better than ever: Broich

Thomas Broich has just about seen it all in the A-League, but he's never seen a Brisbane Roar squad this good.

"I'd even go as far as to say this is, in terms of depth, the best squad we've ever had," Broich told reporters on Friday.

"The other day we played 11 versus 11 at training and it felt like the other team could have been the starting line-up.

"It was incredible. It's pretty cool that we've got all these options."

The Roar will certainly need them ahead of Sunday's clash with Perth Glory at Suncorp Stadium.

Coach John Aloisi will be forced to make at least four changes, with skipper Matt McKay, striker Jamie Maclaren and defender Corey Brown all on international duty and Costa Rican import Jean Carlos Solorzano injured again.

Aloisi says he is yet to decide on his starting side, but is contemplating handing a debut to Javier Hervas, the Spanish utility who somewhat slid under the radar when he joined the Roar shortly after the high-profile arrival of veteran midfielder and countryman Corona.

Hervas, 26, spent last season in the Segunda Division with Sabadell, on loan from Sevilla, but has been clubless since the middle of the year and is lacking match fitness.

"He's got a pretty talented left foot on him. He seems to be quite a physical player, as well, so I'm excited to see him play hopefully," Broich said.

Hervas is likely to be used along with teenage striker Nick D'Agostino and club favourite Henrique, who returns from a long-term knee injury, as an impact player off the bench.

"Especially up here in Brisbane, we know it's a hard place to come in general and you can win a lot of games in the last 15 minutes. That's where the subs can make their difference," Aloisi said.

Aloisi said Henrique's stellar training-ground performances in recent weeks "forced (his) hand" with his selection.

"When he comes on or if he starts, he's electric," he said.

"He can score goals, he puts fear into the defenders, he's been putting fear into some of our defenders when he's been training the last couple of weeks. He's been looking really sharp, that's why I've included him."

Young gun Devante Clut is also in line for a start in midfield, with Dimitri Petratos expected to replace Maclaren at the point of attack.

But Aloisi could also be forced to alter his back four after defender Jade North failed to complete Friday's training session.
