Roar confirm Alex Lopez A-League signing

Brisbane Roar have confirmed they have added Spanish midfielder Alex Lopez to their 2018-19 squad.

The former Celta Vigo player has signed with Brisbane ahead of their A-League season opener against Central Coast at Suncorp Stadium on October 21.

The 30-year-old played for Sporting Gijon last season in the Spanish second division but had previously also enjoyed stints at Real Valladolid and English club Sheffield Wednesday.

The former Spain under-17 international had been training with Racing de Ferrol before signing with the Roar.

"Alex is a very technically gifted player who will suit our high tempo playing style," Roar coach John Aloisi said.

"I am delighted he has chosen to sign for our club.

"Having played at the highest level in Spain for many seasons, I am confident he will be a great addition to our midfield and our talented squad."

Lopez will attend the Roar's pre-season clash against a Brisbane Premier League Select team on Saturday night.
