QPR sign young Aussie midfielder

Australian youngster Josh Wallen has signed an 18-month deal with English Championship club Queens Park Rangers.

Wallen, 19, who hails from Bangalow in northern NSW, has been picked up by the London club, who were relegated from the EPL earlier the year, after he spent a short spell with Queensland NPL side Palm Beach Sharks.

The midfielder, who holds a British passport, was signed as a 16-year-old by Watford and spent two seasons in the Hornets' academy before returning home after failing to earn a full-time contract.

After impressing the QPR coaching staff during a trial period Wallen was offered a deal and will link up with the club's under-21 youth development side subject to international clearance.
