Queens Park Rangers have rejected an approach from MK Dons to sign Socceroos midfielder Massimo Luongo on loan.

The 23-year-old has been out out of favour at the Championship club following the decision to relieve Chris Ramsey, Luongo's former youth team coach at Spurs, of his managerial duties in October.

Luongo started his career with Rangers well, after a $A5million move from Swindon Town, with a series of strong performances, but was dumped from the side by stand-in coach Neil Warnock before Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink's appointment last month.

Hasselbaink handed Luongo his first start in almost three months in last Saturday's 1-0 defeat at Nottingham Forest prompting an enquiry from fellow Championship side MK Dons, according to a report on the West London Sport website.

However, Rangers tuned down the offer and insist Luongo is a player who figures in their long-term plans and want him to fight to win back his place in the team.
