Predicting Twitter account proved a fake

A Twitter account that appeared to predict the result of the World Cup Final has been revealed as a fake.

The account, which calls itself "Fifa Corruption", shocked some naive users when it apparently predicted the correct result – that Germany would win in extra time, with Goetze scoring.

But the person or people behind the account had simply made a huge number of different predictions before the game, then deleted all of the incorrect ones, as the screenshot above shows.

While it's a simple trick that anyone who thought about it for more than ten seconds could have deciphered, it didn't stop a number of Twitter users from taking the bait.
