Sometimes luck is just not on your side.

That would have been the thought flashing through Porto midfielder Andre Andre's mind when he was thwarted by the woodwork and one of the saves of the year against Rio Ave in the Primeira Liga.

The 26-year-old thought he had broken the 1-1 deadlock deep into the first half when he latched onto Vincent Aboubakar's perfectly weighted cross.

But despite beating Rio Ave's goalkeeper, Cassio, Andre's flashing header crashed back off the far post.

However, the Portugal international was given a second bite of the cherry when the rebound fortuitously fell back at his feet.

Knocking the ball back at the goal though, Andre could have been forgiven he had broken a mirror or two when Cassio showed superb reflexes to miraculously claw it back from becoming a certain goal.

The unbelievable goalline scramble came back to haunt the former champions with the draw dropping the club down to third in the standings.
