Pele congratulates Argentina after WC win

Brazil football great Pele has congratulated traditional South American rivals Argentina on reaching the World Cup final.

"Congratulations Argentina for today's big victory," Pele posted on Twitter after their 4-2 penalty shoot-out win over the Netherlands in the semi-final.

Argentina now face Germany in Sunday's (Monday AEST) final at the Maracana stadium in Rio de Janeiro.

"I am looking forward to being at Maracana on Sunday to watch the final between two great nations of football!" Pele said.

It is not known if Argentina football great Diego Maradona - with whom Pele has had a personal rivalry over the years - will attend the game.
