NYC go top in MLS Eastern Conference
A 1-1 draw in Toronto has been enough for New York City to edge their way to the top of the Eastern Conference standings in Major League Soccer.
New York struck first when Kwadwo Poku curled in a shot from the corner of the area in the 16th minute of Wednesday night's game.
However they had to settle for a point after Will Johnson poked home from close range three minutes before half time.
The result lifts New York one point clear of the Montreal Impact, although they have played a game more.
The Philadelphia Union are two points off top spot and have two games in hand.
The New York Red Bulls moved up to fifth place, four points off top spot, after a 1-0 win over the Chicago Fire, with Mike Grella scoring the only goal just before the hour mark.
