Football player run over by own medical cart during game

A medical cart carrying an injured football player from the field in Ecuador ran over another player on Monday morning.
While the Liga Portoviejo player on the cart was coming off with his head in his hands, Edison Caicedo, who was talking with the person behind him, absentmindedly walked into the cart’s path and was bowled over.

He hit the deck, holding his leg in pain while officials from the team ran over to express their frustration with the driver.
Though there wasn’t much the poor driver could do, given Caicedo walked into the side of the cart.
The LigaPro match between El Nacional and Liga de Portoviejo sat at 1-0 in the latter’s favour at the 71st minute, when the incident occurred at Gonzalo Pozo Ripalda stadium in Quito.

The 36-year-old full back had a sore thigh, but was able to finish out the match. It ultimately ended 1-0.
Portoviejo coach Paraguayan Raúl Duarte expressed his anger with the referee in the aftermath of the collision.
