Gotham FC made a massive addition to the roster when Sam Kerr of Australia was added on a free transfer following a productive six-and-a-half seasons with Chelsea in the Women’s Super League, multiple outlets reported.

During her stay in England, Aussie champion Kerr scored 116 goals in 158 matches and helped Chelsea to five league titles.

The club also won three FA Cup titles and three League Cup trophies.

The move to Gotham comes after Kerr’s Chelsea contract expired.

The move marks Kerr’s return to the Gotham franchise, which was known as Sky Blue FC when she played with the club from 2015-17.

She scored 28 goals during her previous NWSL stint in 40 matches.

Gotham is the defending NWSL champion but is fifth in the league standings at 6-3-2 (21 points).

San Diego Wave FC leads the league at 8-1-4 (25 points).

Kerr, 32, also spent time with the NWSL’s Chicago Red Stars from 2018-19 and scored 35 goals in 43 matches before moving to Chelsea.
