Mourinho’s handshake snubbed

He's arrogant, fiery and highly competitive, but Jose Mourinho always makes a point of shaking hands with his rivals.

However, the Chelsea's manager's penchant for a premature show of respect earned the wrath of his Aston Villa opposite Paul Lambert and deputy Roy Keane when their two sides met at Stamford Bridge on the weekend.

With only minutes remaining in the 3-0 win to Chelsea, Mourinho approached the pair on the bench for a handshake, only to be embarrassingly rebuffed.

Seeking out Lambert with a tap on the shoulder and an outstretched hand, the Villa boss motioned to shake, but quickly recoiled and pointed at his watch as if to suggest the game wasn't over.

He then moved onto Keane, whose response was predictably icier, with the Irishman failing to even acknowledge him and remaining fixed on the pitch with his arms folded.

Whether he was desperate to get a jump on the traffic or just keen to make his way into the dressing sheds, the Portuguese maestro left his rivals cold with his approach.

Perhaps next time he'll wait until the match ends, though we doubt it.
