Match fixing suspected after own goal in Ukranian second division

Plenty of questions were raised in the Ukranian second division after this match defining goal was scored between Obolon-Brovar and Bukovinya.

With the scores locked at nil-all, Obolon-Brovar went on the attack down the left hand flank and worked their way into the Bukovyna penalty area.

As the ball was crossed in, the Bukovyna keeper palmed the ball away and it fell at the feet of defender Igor Boychuk.

Instead of blasting it over the bar for a corner, Boychuk banged the ball into his own net.

The defender looked pretty distraught after the own goal which leads us to believe the own goal was unintentional.

But considering the scores were locked up and the fashion in which the deadlock was broken, we can’t help but think something untoward may have happened.
