Manchester City enter title run at Everton

Manchester City could take a huge step towards winning the Premier League on Saturday if they beat Everton at Goodison Park.

City are three points behind league leaders Liverpool, who travel to Crystal Palace on Monday, but have a game in hand and a better goal-difference than their rivals.

Their record at Goodison is poor though: they have won their only twice in the Premier League era and have lost their last four.

Everton should have Leighton Baines back after he limped out of Saturday's defeat to Southampton with a knee injury while Phil Jagielka should also return. But Sylvain Distin is only "50-50" to get over a hamstring problem.

David Silva and Jesus Navas are both out for City, who are looking to win the title on goal difference for the second time in three seasons.

"We know that we've been in this situation two years ago and I think we had been talking about that last week," said defender Pablo Zabaleta.

"The most important thing we've learned from that experience was the team spirit to keep fighting until the end." Last Sunday's defeat to Chelsea means wins in both their final two games may not be enough for Liverpool, but manager Brendan Rodgers urged his side to enjoy the race.

"It's good to be involved in this and it's the only way you gain experience. No matter where we finish, we will look to build on it, and press on from this position," said Rodgers.

"We will embrace it. We still have work to do. We will go again and progress from here, but we are enjoying this position." Bottom side Cardiff City go to Newcastle United, who have lost their last six, desperate for a win to have a chance of survival.

Fulham, in second bottom, are at Stoke City, while a Norwich City side who have lost their last five go to Chelsea, who trail leaders Liverpool by two points.

Sunderland, having picked up seven points from their last three games, go to Manchester United trying climb out of the drop zone. It us United's second game under the temporary management of Ryan Giggs.

Arsenal can seal fourth place and Champions League qualification if they beat West Bromwich Albion on Sunday, while Aston Villa, still on the fringe of the relegation battle, host Hull City.
