Liverpool lose Lucas for six

Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva is likely to be out for up to six weeks with a thigh injury, manager Juergen Klopp said on Friday.

The 29-year-old Brazilian suffered the injury taking a penalty in the League Cup shoot-out defeat by Manchester City last weekend.

"It's more serious than we thought," Klopp said.

"He will be out for between five and six weeks." Liverpool, who are eighth in the Premier League but only six points behind fourth, are away to Crystal Palace on Sunday.
