Lingard called into England squad

Manchester United forward Jesse Lingard has been called into the England squad for Tuesday's friendly against France.

Lingard, 22, comes in after Michael Carrick and Jamie Vardy were ruled out due to injuries, the Football Association said Sunday.

Carrick hurt his ankle in Friday's 2-0 loss in Spain, while Vardy has yet to recover from an injury sustained while playing for Leicester last weekend.

It's the first senior call-up for Lingard, who has played for the England under-21s.
