Keeper carded after throwing rival

There's nothing more infuriating in football than a player feigning injury.

Whether it's a ploy to hoodwink a referee into a penalty or to get a rival sent off, the faux injury is a galling part of the game.

However, Toronto FC goalkeeper Joe Bendik found a new way to address the issue when he picked up a rival, who he felt was faking it to waste time, during a weekend match in America's MLS.

Clinging to a 1-1 score during injury time between Montreal Impact and Toronto, Impact player Felipe Martins went down with an apparent leg problem in a bid to chew up time.

But immediately sensing his ploy, an enraged Bendik decided to take matters into his own hands, marching over to his fallen rival before picking him up like a child and tossing him over the sideline.

Of course, Martins made an instant recovery, leaping to his feet and then chasing after the keeper, somewhat proving his point.

Unfortunately for Bendik, the provocative action only resulted in more angst with the referee showing him a yellow card.

But at least it didn't cost Toronto the match and gave fans something to cheer about, while Martins might just think twice before feigning injury again.
