It's a bug's life at the World Cup

Talk about being bugged by fans.

Goal scorers are used to being mobbed by teammates, but Colombian star James Rodriguez got more than the usual hug after nailing a penalty during his nation’s 2-1 quarter-finals loss to Brazil.

Having coolly slotted the ball in the net to give the South Americans a glimmer of hope in the 77th minute, Rodriguez found some unexpected attention from a Brazilian local when a giant insect landed on his arm.

As the footage shows, the ace marksman turns after scoring and the lime green bug lands on his upper arm, as if to join the celebration, before fluttering away as quickly as it arrived.

Unfortunately for Colombia, the insect wasn't on hand to fly into the view of Brazil's David Luiz and block his sight of the goal minutes earlier when he landed the killer blow from a free kick.
