Italy win tune-up game Vs Fluminense

Italy beat Fluminense 5-3 in a test match scheduled six days ahead of their debut at the World Cup.

Azzurri coach Cesare Prandelli had promised an experimental game and fielded several reserves who convinced upfront with a hat-trick by Ciro Immobile and a Lorenzo Insigne brace, but displayed some defensive uncertainties.

Insigne opened the scoring on 23 minutes off an assist by Immobile, but a poor clearance allowed Chiquinho to level two minutes later with a tight-angle shot off a cross from Gustavo.

The Azzurri went ahead again on the half hour as Serie A top scorer Immobile nodded home a free-kick by Insigne and the hosts levelled when Carlinhos stormed into the box and scored as the young Mattia Perin fumbled his central shot.

The defence of the Rio De Janeiro side had a confused start to the second half and were stunned twice by Immobile, who on 55 minutes set up Insigne for his second goal.

Italy's first-team Andrea Pirlo, Mario Balotelli and seven others came on after the hour to see Fluminense pull one back with a great drive from substitute Matheus Carvalho.

La Nazionale play their first game in Group D on Saturday (Sunday AEST) against England.
