Wollongong chase Ronaldinho signature

Brazilian footballing superstar Ronaldinho's next stop could be Wollongong if some enterprising officials get their way.

According to the Illawarra Mercury, the Wollongong Wolves are trying to recruit the Ballon d'Or winner for their FFA Cup match against Sydney FC.

Ronaldinho has been looking for a move to the A-League and the Wollongong club is reportedly using that interest to make a play at the star.

Several teams have shown interest, but he has so far not made any firm commitments and the Wolves hope he could see this move as a stepping stone to the top tier in Australia.

Financially the move isn't viable for the Wolves, but the Illawarra Mercury said Ronaldinho was open to the idea of playing in the game.

The biggest hurdle could be finding money to cover the 2002 World Cup winner's match fee.
