Adelaide United goalkeeper Paul Izzo has signed a two-year contract extension with the A-League club.

The 24-year-old was off contract at the end of the 2019-20 campaign but has committed to his hometown club until 2022.

Despite his relative youth for a goalkeeper, Izzo has made more than 100 A-League appearances since debuting for the Reds in 2012.

After being released by Adelaide in 2015, the Australian under-23 international spent two seasons at Central Coast before returning to South Australia in 2017.

Since coming back to Hindmarsh, Izzo has been a key part of Adelaide's 2018 and 2019 FFA Cup wins and Reds director of football Bruce Djite said securing him to a new deal had been a top priority for the club.

"Paul is unquestionably one of the best goalkeepers in the A-League and we believe he will only continue to improve," Djite said.

"For a goalkeeper, Paul is still very young, but to have made more than 100 appearances in the A-League alone makes him a very experienced member of our squad."
