Gerrard never offered A-League stint

Steven Gerrard says he's never considered a stint in the A-League because nobody has ever offered him one.

The former Liverpool skipper is currently living in the US playing Major League Soccer for LA Galaxy.

Gerrard has hinted he will likely retire from playing at the upcoming season, when his A$12.6 million, 18-month deal expires.

But the 35-year-old, in Sydney to play an exhibition match with a Liverpool Legends team on Thursday night, has intriguingly left his options after that open.

Coaching is one avenue he wants to pursue.

Despite his obvious crowd appeal, Gerrard said no Australian sides had ever approached him about a stint in the A-League.

"Well I've never had that offer, so there's no point talking about it," he said.

"But all the doors that are open for me in the future, I'll never say never to any of them.

"We'll have to wait and see what the future holds."

Gerrard will line up against an Australian Legends team at ANZ Stadium on Thursday night as part of a Liverpool Legends XI managed by former Reds manager Gerard Houllier.

He will then head straight back to Los Angeles for pre-season training with Galaxy.
