Keeping a clean sheet can be a headache-inducing practice at the best of times.

But for German goalie Lukas Kruse simply blocking a shot was enough to do the trick in a recent Bundesliga match.

With his side trailing Bayer Leverkusen 1-0, the Paderborn goalie found himself in a one-on-one with powerful forward Stefan Kiessling closing in on goal.

As the footage shows, Kruse had no time to react when Kiessling let fly with a close range thunderbolt that caught him flush in the face and sent him reeling to the turf.

The blow left Kruse seeing stars as he appeared to get momentarily knocked out, but remarkably the 31-year-old managed to soldier on and finish the game.

Unfortunately, it was all to no avail, with Lekerkusen adding insult to injury for the shot-stopper by putting another two goals into the net for a 3-0 victory.
