Footballer scores sublime goal in Dutch second division

A Dutch footballer has belied his second-tier status with a stunning goal reminiscent of one of the most famous in English Premier League history.

Johnathan Opoku was in action for VVV-Venlo against NAC Breda when a ball was played in to him just inside the box.

Footage shows the attacking midfielder win the race to the ball and then, with his back to goal, twice pop it over Breda defenders before lobbing the keeper with a perfect right foot volley.

The goal evokes memories of Matt Le Tissier’s famous strike against Newcastle in 1993 where the Southampton great controlled the ball with a ridiculous touch before dinking it over two opponents on his way to one of the EPL’s most unforgettable moments.  

Opoku’s incredible piece of skill made the score 4-2 with Venlo hanging on for a 4-3 victory, we’re also sure it attracted club scouts across Holland and beyond.
