Footballer loses his wig

Footballers can be a vain mob - especially when it comes to hair.

But AFC Bournemouth defender Baily Cargill surely takes the cake.

At least if his embarrassing hair bungle during a recent clash with Liverpool is what it seems.

Playing in a Capital One Cup match during the week, the teenager was left red-faced after what appeared to be a wig, fashioned into a Samurai-style ponytail, fell off his head.

Cargill was in possession and played a pass to a teammate and then propped before the apparent hair piece dropped onto the ground.

Footage showed him reach out to catch the rug and then turn away as if pretending not to know what it was when he missed the grab.

Unlike the "yeah, yeah" hair transplant ads of former Test cricketer Greg Matthews, it was truly a "no, no" moment for the 19-year-old.

For the record Liverpool won the quarter-final 3-0 to set up a semi-final clash with Chelsea.
