Football: Fighter jet screams through new stadium

Powered by

Imagine watching a football match and a fighter jet performing barrel rolls screams barely metres above your head.

Well fans of Russian club FC Krasnodar don't have to – they will experience it at every home match.

The Russian Premier League side have unveiled the new jewel in their crown after the opening of the 34,000-seater Krasnodar Stadium.

However, one of the most visual stunning features of the stadium is the giant 360 degree screen that sits under the ceiling.

In a test of the screen's capabilities, a ball shoots around the stadium before the fighter takes flight, leaving a colourful jet stream in its wake.

Europe's latest stadia – bankrolled by Russian billionaire Sergey Galitsky – opened its doors for the first time to host Russia's friendly defeat to Costa Rica last weekend.

It will now home to FC Krasnodar but, surprisingly, will not be featured when the World Cup returns to the continent for the Russia 2018.
