'Oh my god!' Craig Goodwin strike rocks Australia as Socceroos provide World Cup moment to savour
Craig Goodwin sent Australia into raptures when he scored the Socceroos' first goal in open play at a World Cup since 2014.
The left winger opened the scoring in the ninth minute to briefly rock reigning World Cup champions France and give hope to the millions of viewers watching back home in lounge rooms and at live sites around the country.
It wasn't just any goal either, with Goodwin thumping the ball into the roof of the net with a first time strike, after a beautiful first touch from right winger Matthew Leckie sent him clear of his man and created space for him to deliver a pinpoint cross to the far post.

An elated Goodwin turned and ran to the corner flag, sliding on his knees in celebration, as he was joined by disbelieving Socceroos teammates, who suddenly had a 1-0 lead.
While the joy was shortlived, with France equalising, then assuming complete control before half-time, it was heartily celebrated by football fans in Australia - as well as the healthy portion wearing yellow in the Qatar crowd.
