A female goalkeeper faces a two-game suspension after laying out a rival with a brutal diving tackle during a match in the US.

The ugly incident was captured during a high school match between rivals Pine Forest and Pinecrest when striker Riley Barrett tried to chase down a through ball.

The Pinecrest attacker, who had been flagged offside, instead copped a massive blow to the face by a flying Cassie Sturtz.

Sturtz, who came screaming off her line to narrow the angle, only had eyes for her rival as she launched herself completely over the ball.

Barrett was left motionless on the ground in the aftermath of the attack but was reportedly able to later walk off the ground.

Incredibly, Sturtz remained on the field after escaping punishment for the incident.

However, officials after the game deemed Sturtz should have been called for a flagrant foul which carries an automatic two-game ban.
