Match abandoned after fans riot in Brazil

FFA authorities were seen to come down hard on WSW fans over a certain banner depicting Sydney FC coach Graham Arnold last month.

But this video from Brazil shows what the game’s governing body in the South American country has to deal with when confronted by unruly behaviour from its football fans.

It’s the sort of stuff that makes Wanderers supporters look like choirboys.

The match between fierce rvials Gama and Brasiliense had to be abandoned late in the match due to a wild brawl sparked by players and team officials which eventually sucked in a number of fans from the stands.

With the scores locked at 1-all and with only a minute of regulation left, Brasiliense striker Nunes and Gama right-back Dudu man handled each other near the sideline which led to a wild melee involving scores of people.

Both teams exchanged punches and kicks which led to fans invading the pitch and clashing with each other.

One fan was stripped of his clothes and stomped on by a rival player mercilessly.

The referee was forced to call the match off and police had to intervene with pepper spray.

A number of fans and players were injured as a result of the violence.
