Fans turn football stadium into a fireball

They are the scourge of Australian football.

But in Serbia fans have used flare like candles to celebrate premier club Red Star Belgrade's 71^st birthday.

Playing a home clash against Serbian Super Liga rivals Jaofina, supporters transformed Marakana Stadium into a giant fireball to mark the milestone.

And the image of hundreds of fares ignited in unison made it look the stadium was ablaze with a firey orange glow encircling the pitch as the action unfolded below.

Red Star was leading 2-1 at the time before giving fans more reason to celebrate with a third goal later in the match to maintain their unbeaten record for the season.
