Ex-Chelsea star in talks for A-League move

Ex-Chelsea star Michael Essien is reportedly interested in pursuing a late-career move to the A-League, opening talks with Wellington Phoenix.

It is believed the 35-year-old's management has contacted the New Zealand club to discuss a deal after the Ghanaian's contract was cut short by Indonesian side Persib Bandung, Fox Sports reports.

Essien, who Melbourne Victory unsuccessfully attempted to sign in 2016, has not played since March but has been training with Chelsea's under-23 side.
