Everton starlet signs long-term contract

Everton's have rewarded in-form teenage midfielder Tom Davies with a new five-year contract.

Liverpool-born Davies, 18, has agreed to stay with his hometown club until at least the end of June 2022.

Davies has established himself in the first team, following his debut as a substitute last April against a Southampton side then managed by current Everton boss Ronald Koeman.

He has made 17 appearances in all competitions and started 10 Premier League matches this season, an ever-present since impressing in the Boxing Day win over Leicester.

After signing his new contract, club Academy graduate Davies told evertonfc.com: "It means everything to me to get a chance to be in the Everton first team and to try to stay there.

"It's an unbelievable feeling.

"Everton has a long tradition of bringing young players through, and the incentive has always been there for me to try to progress with the club."
