German coach repeatedly sniffs his armpit

German coach Joachim Löw has moved on to giving another part of his body a bizarre odour test after facing worldwide ridicule for repeatedly sticking his hands down his pants to scratch before sniffing his finger.

The World Cup winning manager was seen watching on anxiously as his team faced Slovakia in a round-of-16 clash at Euro 2016 when Low reverted to rubbing his finger under his armpit before repeatedly sniffing it.

Of course, Euro 2016 isn’t the first instance in which the manager has disgusted the worldwide footballing community.

Four years ago, at Euro 2012 Lowe picked his nose before snacking on the snot while at the 2014 World Cup the manager picked his nose before shaking Cristiano Ronaldo’s hand.

German star Lucas Podolski was forced to defend his coach after the footage emerged of him putting his hands down his pants during the win over Ukraine.

"About 80 percent of you here have at some point scratched your balls," Podolski told reporters, amid loud laughter and applause.

"It is not an issue in the team."

Whether Löw actions are a nervous or habitual reaction is not known.

However, what is certain is Germany’s stellar record with him at the helm, with the team enjoying a winning percentage of nearly 70 with him in charge. He led them to the final at Euro 2008, third place at the 2010 World Cup before winning the 2014 World Cup.

It would seem Löw’s revolting habits may be the superstition behind to Germany’s success.

The reigning world champions will face the winner of Italy and Spain in Sunday’s round-of-16 fixture in Bordeaux.
