Austrians trust security for Euro16 soccer

Austrian footballers on Tuesday expressed their trust in the security on hand for Euro 2016 in France.

"I believe that we will be taken care of very well," Stuttgart striker Martin Harnik said ahead of Austria's departure Wednesday for France.

"Naturally you always have in the back of your mind that something could happen. But I don't think it's good to be fearful," fellow Austrian striker Marc Janko added.

The Austrian headquarters in Mallemort will be patrolled around the clock by about 60 French police, according to the Austrian football association.

Marcel Koller's team will also be permanently accompanied by two members of the French GIGN special forces unit.

"We have a lot of faith in the security officials who will be protecting us. There is no reason for us to go there with fear," Janko said.

Harnik did, however, express concern for his family, which will be also be in France during the tournament.

"I am more concerned about them than I am about my own safety," Harnik said.
