Dortmund end Bundesliga slump
Borussia Dortmund have ended their Bundesliga rot with a first victory in almost two months, but needed a freak own goal from Christoph Kramer to beat Borussia Moenchengladbach 1-0 and leave last place.
The Germany midfielder Kramer attempted a back pass to Yann Sommer, but his chip from 40 metres sailed over the stranded goalkeeper into the net in the 58th.
Dortmund were utterly dominant, with Marco Reus denied by the post and the crossbar, and Lukasz Piszczek and Henrikh Mkhitaryan wasting major chances against harmless Moenchengladbach who had to swallow their first season defeat and first loss overall after a club record 18 unbeaten games in all competitions.
Dortmund ended a slide of seven winless games - the last five being defeats - to move up to 15th place, ahead of Werder Bremen, SV Hamburg and new bottom club VfB Stuttgart.
Moenchengladbach remain third on 20 points, seven behind leaders Bayern Munich and three behind Wolfsburg, who beat Hamburg 2-0 in the other Sunday game.
