Chinese football manager Hao Wei was ejected from the field after tangling with a New Zealand player during their Women’s World Cup clash in Canada.

The run-in occurred when Black Ferns defender Ria Percival was trying to take a quick throw-in late in the match as the Kiwis chased victory to progress through to the knockout phase.

Stalking the sideline with the scores locked at 2-2 in injury time, Wei first tried to catch the ball as it flew out of play and then stood over Percival to prevent her from picking it up.

The Kiwi threw up her hands in dismay, while Wei comically did the same, attempting to indicate that he was trying to get out of the way.

However, the time wasting ploy failed to fool the referee with the Chinese mentor issued a red card, which means he will be banned from standing on the sidelines during his side's next clash.

Unfortunately for New Zealand, the match finished in a draw which saw them eliminated from the tournament.
