Chinese FA reduce foreign player quota

The Chinese Football Association has lowered the number of foreign players eligible to play for clubs in a bid to halt "irrational" spending behaviour, it said on Monday.
Chinese clubs have recently grabbed headlines by securing stars such as the Brazilian Oscar and Argentine Carlos Tevez due to spending massive amounts on transfer fees and wages.

But the association hopes to reign in spending by cutting the limit of foreign players that can appear at any given time from four to three and demanding at least two Chinese players aged under 23 start matches.
Chinese media reported its clubs had spent more than 4 billion Yuan ($A765 million) on 95 foreign players in 2016.
