Internet photos are circulating showing Chile striker Mauricio Pinilla with a tattoo of his crossbar shot in the last-16 match against Brazil.

The photos showed him having the scene tattooed on his back after his return to Chile from Brazil. Under the tattoo are the words: "One Centimeter from Glory."

The photos published on globo.com on Tuesday also showed him with the words "Blessed" and "For Life" tattooed on his temple.

There was no official confirmation of the authenticity of the photos from Pinilla's side.

The Italian-based striker's shot against the bar in the final seconds of Saturday's game, could have put Brazil out of the World Cup had it gone in.

The score was 1-1 at the time. Brazil went on to win in a penalty shoot-out, with Pinilla's spot-kick saved by Brazilian keeper Julio Cesar.

Comments about the photos posted on the web included one which asked: "Why didn't he have a tattoo made of the missed penalty?"
