Chelsea held by Burnley, Man Utd lose 2-1

Chelsea dropped vital points in the English Premier League title race as they were held to a 1-1 draw at home to Burnley on Saturday (Sunday AEDT), having ended the match with 10 men.

Branislav Ivanovic put Chelsea ahead but after Nemanja Matic was sent off on 70 minutes, with Ben Mee snatching an equaliser nine minutes from time.

The result left Chelsea five points clear of Manchester City, who thrashed Newcastle 5-0 while Burnley remain in the relegation zone, but only on goal difference.

Arsenal won 2-1 at Crystal Palace to go third, above Manchester United, who lost 2-1 at Swansea, while Tim Sherwood's first game in charge at Aston Villa ended in a 2-1 home defeat by Stoke.

Hull edged out 10-man Queens Park Rangers 2-1 while Sunderland and West Brom drew 0-0 in the day's other match.
